Akin to the Rolex “Pepsi” colour scheme we felt that “Sub-Zero” was more befitting ours. The darker, richer colours defining it as owning its own DNA. The Sub-Zero DNA.
What’s the point of creating something if you can’t have fun doing it? A principle that runs through the veins of our design team. We knew we’d been given a head start on design when we decided to deliberately pay homage to the most iconic of designs, but were equally aware that we can’t be identical. One of our own pet hates is copying anything to the letter. It’s utterly disrespectful.
So how was we going to achieve this tribute without overly homaging? We’d already nailed the design by putting into place our ten point must system. Our red and blue had to be different for a start. The Rolex ‘Pepsi’ in our minds eye owns their respective shades. We couldn’t call it ‘Pepsi‘ either, it just had to be different.
So how are we going to achieve that? That’s the fun part. We’ve decided to let our customers name it. Granted we’ve given it a head start by having creative fun by calling it ‘Sub-Zero’ after a rival drink and correlating our colours with that of ‘Spider-Man.’ After-all if Rolex fans can nickname one of their models ’The Hulk,’ why can’t we give ours?
